So here is a picture of most of my captains. What decides what shows up under my name on a friend's list? Is it whatever team I log off with? Last used?

Other than this, I use L50 Blamenco (4), L10 laboon(3) and a red marine for turtle island.

It will be the captain of the last you crew you used. You can go to edit crew and choose the crew with the captain you want to show. 
(you can see it also on the main menu adventure, the character in the middle in your crew on your screen)
