Question about the proper use of manuals

This has been bugging me for a while now. Let's say I want to max the special of my Gear 2nd Luffy and I have two Gear 2nd manuals. If I use them at the same time to power up my character AND if I would be lucky enough to actually level up the special, would it go just one level up or two?

I ask this because I never tried it and always just used one all alone but I'm just curious to find out. Anybody have an answer for this?

I don't think your chances of getting a special level up increase whether you feed manuals one at a time, or altogether.

With 2 manuals, you could get 2 level ups if you use them together, or 1+1 if you feed them separately.

Only advantage to feeding them together may be saving on beli cost.

Yeah, the belly cost was actually the reason why I was asking. For Gear 2nd Luffy it wouldn't matter though since he's already max level so it wouldn't make any difference if I do it together for him or serately.

But for the lower level characters it would make a difference in terms of saving belly. If only this special leveling thing wouldn't be luck based. Same with the boats. Yesterday I failed my 13th attempt to max out Alvida's ship.
