can someone explain me the difference between the English and the Japanese version of the game?

There is no difference except the language used in the game for English is English and is lagging behind the Japanese version by many story isles and events

It is not easier, but the japanese version has more units and is more advanced in the story, therefore we have more story islands. Additionally we have more extra / special islands as well
