Mihawk Special vs Captain Ability

So can I get a vote of which of you use gems and refill to get as many Mihawks for his special as possible or is one drop enough since you just want his captain.

Preferably F2P players xD thanks

At the moment I've got two mihawks and waiting for stamina bar to refill to 40 to get 3rd, not using any gems to refill, I'm F2P

Im a lvl 205 , with 120+ stamina.My mihawk is lvl 99 and I had to combine about 170 mihawk to get his skill maxed.. I see some people in my friend lists got the mihawk's skill maxed at lower level.. Mihawk with lvl 1 skill is just ok, but wont be as much of a help since it will take forever for the player to get his skill ready.

i am a noob here, so if you combine a same kind of char you will gain captain ability lvl? do you have to max out one char first?

The Character/Skillbook need to have same Special to Level Up here. ^^
