He seems nearly impossible to beat and I really want him. I don't have a single solid team. I think I'm gonna try a fighting team against him, but Zeff isn't dropping after 4 days of doing Baratie 3 over and over again. Should I just give up on Zeff and do elite Buggy to level up my units?

I just takes time, and you are able to die before you meet Mihawk. So, but if you reached mihawk, its a 100% win for you!
So, maybe you have to spent 1-5 gems, depents on your perfects and the right order of killing.

If I have to spend gems to revive from multiple attacks of weak fodder, and then spend 3 hours killing mihawk, I'd rather spend the same gems being oneshotted from him but attacking him with a good str/slasher/fighter team that can deal at least 100k per combo.

You didnt have to spend gems, if you did it right. It will be hard for everone to kill him without this method.
And it tooks ~45 minutes.

That video is supposed to point out a very simple method to beat mihawk that many people might be able to do. Although that method takes a long time, people who don't have an amazing team could use it to beat mihawk. If you look at other videos with people who have very good teams, people are trashing mihawk left and right (even with the teams that are available to ENG only atm.) Granted, there is still roughly 2 months before the mihawk event will even be out and between then and now we will also be getting other characters (like straw hat v2) where characters like 2nd gear luffy will be amazing against mihawk, etc.
